PAMA Kids and Family

PAMA is a place for children to explore their artistic talents and learn about Peel's history and heritage. We offer a variety of workshops, programs and camps suitable for children ages 6 to 12+. Caregivers must accompany children unless otherwise noted. 

Family Fun Activities

Saturdays and Sundays, 1 - 4:00 p.m.
Guide your family through art projects that inspire creativity. These drop-in activities are included in the cost of PAMA admission and members are free.

Family Fun Days

Third Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Family time adventures happen here. Join us every month for a day full of creativity. Included in the cost of PAMA admission, guardians must accompany children.
  • Dec. 15 - Turn your creations into a short animation using stop motion animation techniques, 1 - 4:30 p.m.
Inspire creativity through these hands-on activities that take place on Family Fun Days: Family Art and Stories, 2:45 - 3:45 p.m., Family Fun Activity and Colouring Room, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m (drop-in). 


Winter Break, Fun in the Sun

Winter BreakBrighten up your winter break and take a #staycation at PAMA! Escape the cold and enjoy some 'fun in the sun' themed drop-in activities.
  • Monday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - "Do you want to build a snowman?" No? How about a sand castle! Come for a beach day and build your very own sand sculpture.
  • Thursday, Dec. 27, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Grab your passport as we head to the tropics. Experiment using colourful washes and wax-resist techniques to create a tropical, abstract watercolour painting inspired by Canadian artist John Meredith!
  • Friday, Dec. 28, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Enjoy your sunny destination. Create a warm, sunny landscape on a custom tote bag inspired by printmaking artists from our collection.
  • Monday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Enjoy what nature has to offer as we explore the Bruce Trail.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 2, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Go exploring under the sea and find out what kind of creatures would have lived in what is now Peel thousands of years ago?
  • Thursday, Jan. 3, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Using warm colours, watch your cold winter day turn into a warm summer one!
  • Friday, Jan. 4, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Stop by and smell the roses. Make your own long-stemmed rose with modeling clay and personalize it with your "autographed stamp" just like the Dales Estate.  
Included with the cost of PAMA admission and members are free. Caregivers must accompany children.

Each Sunday FUNday includes our Family Art & Stories program designed for families with younger children (3 to 6) as well as special programming for the whole family.
Included with admission and members are free. Registration required for select special guests.

  • Catch Me If You Can Presented by Scientists in School | 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
    Do you have what it takes to be Sherlock Holmes? Scientists in SchoolTest your powers of observation and deduction as you use forensic science to solve the mystery of the missing munchies. Feb 17 - Celebrate Black History Month
  • Storytelling with Sandra Whiting | 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
    A charismatic storyteller, Sandra has told her tales on radio and television, spoken at hundreds of schools to thousands of children, in churches, in libraries, at festivals and at special events. We welcome you to come hear her stories at PAMA and to participate in a hands-on activity.

  • Seed PouchGrandma Assiatou's Seed Pouch Workshop With local artist Mosa McNeilly, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. 
  • Discover the healing properties of plants! Beloved character Grandma Assiatou shares ancestral knowledge and stories from the Atlantic to Kongo to Grenada. Taste, touch, smell and create your own seed pouch. Reserve your spot now.

    Apr 21 - Celebrate Earth Day!

    PAMA Kids P.A. Days 

    Jan 21 and Feb 8 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    • Jan 21 - What's For Dinner? In partnership with the Region of Peel Environmental Education Team.
      Discover the importance of the 3Rs and how to tackle issues like food waste while creating an upcycled work of art. 
    • Feb 8 - Abstract Art
      Let your inner artist loose and dive into the world of colours and patterns.

    Family Literacy Day, In partnership with Brampton Library and the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD)

    Sunday, Jan 27 | 2 - 4 p.m., reading at 2:15 p.m.
    Celebrate Family Literacy Day at PAMA! Join us for drop in activities and a reading by Brampton author Yolanda Marshall, author of Keman's First Carnival, A Piece of Black Cake for Santa and Sweet Sorrel Stand.

    In the Mix
    Monday, Mar 11
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    In The Mix is a hip hop dance and iPad music video program for kids all ages. These SUPERSTARS will learn latest dance moves coupled with iPad technology, to create an on-the-spot music video. Through solo and group participation, children will discover the latest in hip-hop dance, music, and technology all within a fun, energy-filled environment. Kids will also receive the opportunity to be directors and choreographers.

    Mad Science Spin! Pop! Boom!
    Tuesday, Mar 12
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    This thrilling performance will explore a combination of chemistry and physics. Audiences will be amazed by a colour change demonstration. Children will witness a number of exothermic reactions that will produce a Genie Out of a Bottle and a Giant Foam Snake. The fundamental forces of planet Earth will be summoned as the Mad Scientist turns a glass of water upside-down without spilling a drop.

    Apple Fun Puppetry, Little Red Rocket Ship
    Wednesday, Mar 13

    A cosmic trip to the Planet of the Grandmothers! Everyone will create a paper puppet to take home.

    Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up to the center ring for an incredible family friendly CIRCUS themed magic show filled with old fashioned fun and marvelous interactive magic. Prepare to be amazed at the Carnival! Fun for the young and old this show is full of surprises.

    Samba Squad
    Friday, Mar 15
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    Founded by award-winning percussionist Rick Shadrach Lazar, Samba Squad is an innovative group that is forging new directions by mixing world rhythms with the sound-power and street-feel of the drums of the Afro-Brazilian Samba tradition. Join in this interactive performance. 

    Decorating with Natural Dyes

    Easter Monday, Apr 22 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    In this playful drop in activity, participants will learn natural dyeing basics and how to create dyes made from plants, food and other natural materials. You will also use flowers, food, and leaves to create patterns with simple techniques for the whole family.
    Included with admission and members are free.
