This exhibit highlights the unique experiences of our community and explores the ideas of home, belonging, and identity through personal stories, artworks, and interactive displays. Also, enjoy pay-what-you-can from September 9-22.

Highlights of the Exhibit

  • Personal Stories: Explore individual stories from residents of Peel, offering a glimpse into their unique journeys and experiences
  • Cultural Artworks: View beautiful artworks that reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds and identities in our community
  • Interactive Displays: Engage with interactive installations that invite visitors to reflect on their own definition of home and belonging
  • Local Contributions: Learn from the contributions of local artists and historians who share insights into the rich history of Peel

The moment the visitor enters the exhibition, they are immersed into a space that welcomes our differences. It is our hope that this exhibit invites all to explore and celebrate Peel's diverse histories and lived experiences as well as celebrate how we all come together to find a place of belonging in Peel Region.

Amy Dunlop, Museum Curator

My submission to the Stories of Home exhibition is inspired by moments of connection with the world around us and a story of transformation. One of the reasons this submission was chosen is that it also explores how we can redefine our relationship with home and what that may look like.

Deon Best, contributor, and designer

Things like this are necessary for the community – to help people feel like they belong. Home is here now. Telling that part of my life might make other people feel at home too.

Patrick Hamilton, contributor

This partnership with PAMA has been a great lesson in what it takes to engage different communities in curating a truly inclusive exhibition, while honouring the real, lived experiences of the everyday Canadian who have made this country what it is today. We hope that the Stories of Home exhibition can serve as a powerful example of what it looks like to create and curate an exhibition that represents the diverse communities it aims to serve.
