Art Gallery collection
PAMA’s art gallery collection celebrates the creativity and cultural heritage of Peel Region and beyond.
Through artworks that reflect local landscapes, modern movements, and diverse voices, we share the evolving story of art in Canada. From the world’s largest Armington holdings to vibrant works on paper and bold abstract pieces, the collection captures both historical roots and contemporary perspectives.
PAMA’s Art Gallery collection:
- Has over 6,000 artworks by more than 900 artists. Most of the artists are Canadian, while a few hold international citizenship or identity.
- Is mainly a 20th century collection, including some artworks from the 19th and 21st century.
- Includes significant historical and contemporary artists connected to Peel region.
- Has the largest public collection in the world of artworks by Brampton’s Caroline Helena Wilkinson (1875–1939) and her husband, Franklin Milton Armington (1876–1941), with nearly 700 pieces.
- Has a notable number of abstract artworks from popular movements such as Toronto’s Painters Eleven, Quebec Automatistes, and Quebec Plasticiens.
- Focuses on collecting artworks that reflect the diverse and evolving communities of Peel and Canada.
- Has about 75% works on paper, including collages, drawings, paintings, photographs, and prints.
