Museum collection

PAMA’s museum collection preserves and celebrates the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Peel Region. Through artifacts that reflect everyday life, industry, immigration, and traditions, we share the stories of the City of Brampton, City of Mississauga, and Town of Caledon, and their earlier communities. Our collection is essential for preserving and sharing local heritage, connecting past and present for future generations.

PAMA’s Museum collection:

  • Holds over 16,000 cultural objects and 29,000 archaeological objects, preserved and maintained for Peel residents.
  • Reflects the diverse cultural history of Peel Region, showcasing its rich heritage.
  • Acquires objects with compelling stories connected to Peel Region’s geographical area, including the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga, the Town of Caledon, the former county of Peel and the townships of Toronto, Toronto Gore, Chinguacousy, and Albion.

Many objects in PAMA’s museum collection are closely connected to or represent the:

  • People who have lived, worked in, or had an impact on Peel region.
  • Histories of Peel Region (Cities of Brampton and Mississauga and the Town of Caledon), the former County of Peel and its townships, towns, and communities.
  • Places, events, businesses, and industries that have notably contributed to the history and development of Peel Region.
  • Development and decision-making related to the Municipality of Peel Region and its predecessor, the County of Peel.
  • Archaeological materials recovered within the current boundaries of Peel Region.
