Explore Witness Blanket and June happenings at PAMA
BRAMPTON, ON (May 27, 2026) – Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) welcomes visitors to explore the exhibition Witness Blanket on display now during National Indigenous History Month, until September 6. We also invite visitors to engage in a variety of unique events and workshops this June.
On now until September 6, 2026
The Witness Blanket is a travelling exhibition based on the art of Carey Newman and developed in collaboration with, and circulated by, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (Winnipeg, Manitoba). It recognizes the atrocities of the Indian Residential Schools, honours the children whose lives were impacted, and symbolizes Canada’s ongoing efforts toward truth and reconciliation.
This installation is a photographic reproduction of the cedar-framed artwork, which is inspired by a woven blanket. It includes images of hundreds of objects recovered from 77 communities across Canada where residential schools were located.
